A finished jigsaw puzzle printed with a watercolor painting of two cats on an armchair

A personalized puzzle is one of the few gifts that asks for someone's time and rewards it. Unlike a mug or a framed print, it has to be sat with, worked through, and finished. By the time the last piece goes in, the person you gave it to has spent hours with your photo or your chosen design in front of them. That is what makes it stick.

Puzzably builds personalized puzzles to be kept, not binned after one assembly: a sharp print, a frame-matched finished size, and packaging that looks deliberate on a shelf. Start from your own photo, or personalise around an occasion with a design from the catalog.

Personalize your puzzle

What you can personalize

A photo. A family portrait, a wedding shot, a pet, a place that means something. Upload it and the studio checks it will hold up at print size before you pay.

An occasion. Anniversaries, new homes, graduations, and birthdays all suit a puzzle that carries the moment rather than just a logo. At 500 pieces, the finished size frames cleanly afterwards, so the gift has a second life on a wall; five other sizes are available if you want a shorter build or a bigger one.

A shared interest. If a photo is not the right fit, choose an original catalog design that matches the person: their city, their flowers, their favourite era of art. Browse Paris, roses, or the art deco collection for a starting point.

How a personalized puzzle is made

1. Upload or choose

Add your photo, or pick a ready-made design. Personalisation is the photo itself; catalog designs are sold as originals and are not altered.

2. Approve the exact print

The studio runs an automated pre-press check: resolution, sharpness at full output size, and crop. If your file will print soft, you see the warning before checkout, not when the tin lands. You approve the precise design you will receive.

3. Printed and precision cut

We print at 200+ DPI, then die-cut to the size you choose. Pieces seat firmly and the finished puzzle lies flat enough to frame.

4. Arrives giftable

It ships as a finished object in packaging designed to be handed over without wrapping, and the price never shows on the tin. Add a gift note at checkout and it travels with the order.

Why a personalized puzzle beats the usual custom gift

Most personalised gifts are decorative the second they are unwrapped and forgotten by the next morning. A puzzle is different because it has to be used. The recipient clears a table, spends an evening or two, and the image becomes something they built rather than something they were handed.

The quality is what decides whether it gets kept afterwards. A soft print gets assembled once and recycled. A sharp print, cut cleanly and sized to a frame, becomes a thing on a wall. That is the entire reason Puzzably obsesses over print resolution, cut tolerances, and a frame-matched dimension.

After it is finished

A personalized puzzle is worth keeping once it is done. Our Preserve and Display guides cover framing without glue so it stays re-solvable, and frame sizes for every Puzzably puzzle.

Looking at it as a broader gift? See custom puzzle from photo for the photo-upload route, the photo puzzle overview, or a framed puzzle if it is going on a wall.

Frequently asked questions

What makes a good photo for a personalized puzzle?

A high-resolution, well-lit, landscape-orientation photo prints best. Aim for 3000px or more on the long edge. The studio checks sharpness on upload and warns you before checkout if the file is likely to print soft.

How much does a personalized puzzle cost?

$54.99 for 252 pieces, our featured size, with free US shipping and printing included. Five other sizes are available, from $34.99 to $119.99. There is no separate personalisation fee.

Can I add a name or message to the design?

The personalisation is your uploaded image. We do not overlay text on catalog designs, but you are welcome to include text within a photo you upload. For a specific request, contact us first.

How long until it arrives?

About two weeks from order, covering production and US shipping.

Is it really giftable out of the box?

Yes. The packaging is made to be given without extra wrapping and never shows a price. Add a gift note at checkout and it travels with the order confirmation.
